Job Description

Junior Science & Technology Engineer
Alexandria Insights – Stafford and Quantico, VA
Are you curious about how emerging technologies make their way into real-world defense systems? Want to help shape tomorrow’s military communications by connecting cutting-edge research with tactical needs? Join Alexandria Insights as a Junior Science & Technology Analyst, supporting innovation within the Marine Corps acquisition ecosystem.
We’re looking for an early-career professional to support the government’s Science & Technology (S&T) lead in evaluating new concepts, tracking emerging tech, and helping align promising solutions with ongoing acquisition programs. You’ll gain exposure to efforts like Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects, tech scouting, and prototype transitions, while building a deep understanding of how research becomes reality for the warfighter.
Key Responsibilities:
Help track and evaluate S&T initiatives (e.g., SBIR/STTR), including emerging technologies relevant to tactical communications, electromagnetic warfare, and C4ISR.
Assist in aligning S&T efforts with PM TCE program needs by mapping research initiatives to operational gaps.
Support coordination across program offices, engineering leads, and external research partners (e.g., ONR, DARPA, NIWC).
Monitor proposal submissions, white papers, and technology briefs; maintain organized documentation in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint).
Capture notes and track action items during Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), S&T reviews, and stakeholder coordination sessions.
Contribute to tech assessments and help prepare material for internal briefs, decision points, and innovation pipeline reviews.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical, scientific, or analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Physics, Data Science).
0–2 years of relevant experience, including internships, research assistantships, or coursework involving technology development or policy.
Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills with attention to technical clarity and document structure.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Preferred:
Familiarity with DoD S&T programs such as SBIR, ONR Tech Transition, or DARPA initiatives.
Basic understanding of acquisition pathways and the early phases of technology development.
Exposure to systems engineering or interest in learning how ideas become fielded capabilities.
Comfortable reading technical documents and translating them into digestible summaries.
Salary Range: $40,000–$65,000
Clearance: Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for SECRET clearance
Status: Contingent upon contract award
