Position: Broadcast Engineer
Description:
Broadcast Engineer will be responsible for providing front-line broadcast engineering and technical support across multiple studios and control rooms within the Stamford Sports facility. The role involves supporting all broadcast systems and technology for live day-of-air programs, troubleshooting hardware and systems, complying with computer security policies, and managing projects that include system design, integration, and commissioning.
This position requires a combination of maintenance and project management system engineering skills. The support needs span seven days a week, with certain periods requiring availability as part of a 24x7 schedule. Responsibilities include: performing system-level troubleshooting of technical facilities, including control rooms, studio equipment, audio equipment, and associated computer systems; conducting preventative maintenance on studio and control room equipment; assisting Studio Operations with technical setup in control rooms and studios; collaborating with production and operations teams to implement technical solutions that meet production initiatives; installing and updating equipment and systems software; repairing and troubleshooting equipment to the module level using industry-standard test equipment; and managing projects, designing systems, and assisting with system integration and commissioning.
Requirements: Basic Requirements: - 2+ years of experience in a television broadcast environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- BS degree in Engineering, Communications, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
Technical Skills and Knowledge: - Knowledge of IP networks.
- Knowledge of digital TV (HDSDI).
- Proficiency in software-driven broadcast video equipment.
- Ability to read and understand system signal flow diagrams for television control room and studio facilities.
- Experience with Sony cameras and Somneo systems.
- Experience with Avid Media Composer and Avid Interplay.
- Proficient in Chyron graphic systems.
- Experience with video switchers, EVS Servers, IP Director, XSquare, Evertz and Grass Valley routing.
- Knowledge of RTS Intercom, Calrec audio consoles, Tektronix and Leader test and measurement systems.
- Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 standards.
- Experience in system design, AutoCAD, and project management.
- Understanding of wireless audio and communication technologies.
- Experience with 1080P and 4K HDR production.
- Comms Systems expertise (RTS ADAM).
- Understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
- Knowledge of computer server installation and maintenance.
Interpersonal and Work Skills: - Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and focused under the pressures of live television.
- Strong hands-on problem-solving skills with broadcast-related equipment and systems.
- Understanding of the urgent needs of on-air sports and the ability to remain productive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.

Preferred Experience: - Experience in live production environments.
- Proficiency with broadcast production systems and software, including audio consoles, intercom systems, video switchers, wireless audio, server-based playout, and test and measurement equipment.
